Eugene (Gene) Dorn

Born and raised in St. Louis Missouri.

Graduated St. Louis University with a B.A. in Psychology. The day after college graduation, I drove from St. Louis to Los Angeles and eventually settled in Orange County California. I worked for several other people until 1987, when I started my own Mortgage Company in Santa Ana CA, South Coast Mortgage, Inc. I remember starting my business with just $5000. I used every penny to rent a 450 sq ft office, buy used furniture, purchase a used telephone system, used copier, a fax machine, a computer and a printer.

The first loan that I made on my own, with my own money, was for $14,000. and I was nervous as hell. At the time, that was every penny that I had in my savings account. Thirty-six years later, I make million-dollar loans and don’t break a sweat.

I married Linda Nesbit Dorn in 2009. Linda was a St. Louis childhood friend of my sister Liz’s. Linda was born and grew up in Fort Lauderdale and graduated Fort Lauderdale HS. She has a B.S. in finance from Southeast Missouri State University. I don’t have any children, but Linda has two daughters who have given us four grandchildren.

In 2015, we moved from Orange California to Clearwater Florida, where I reformed my Company from South Coast Mortgage, Inc., to South Coast Lenders, Inc. dba MisterHardMoney.com. Same business, different state.

Linda and I enjoy the Florida lifestyle. I am an avid (certified) Scuba Diver, having made dives all over the world. We have our boat at our back door. I have a love for fishing and paddle-boarding. I have played classical piano since I was 4 years old and people tell me that I was a “child prodigy.” We have two dogs, Bitzy who is a Shiatzu-Chihuahua mix and Rocky, who is 100% Min Pin. I love my work and career and like helping other people attain their dreams. My charity is to sponsor and help homeless people. I like to give them work and a place to stay and a purpose.
